Communications and Mobilisation Officers

The Australian Conservation Foundation (ACF) stands for ecological sustainability. We get to the heart of environmental problems by tackling the underlying social and economic causes and have been a strong and effective voice for the environment for 50 years.

Sitting within the Engagement Directorate, the Communications and Mobilisation team is responsible for developing and delivering high quality engagement and communication strategies to engage ACF supporters in action and influence key external audiences. A true generalist team, Communications and Mobilisation has primary responsibility for ACFs off-line and online communications and supporter mobilisation activities through day-to-day communications, digital engagement and rapid response. With the oversight of the Communications and Mobilisation Manager, the Communications and Mobilisation team advises campaigners and fundraisers on campaign-related community action, and communications framing and messaging.

You will be responsible for engaging people in action online and offline, including producing high quality content for ACF supporters and key external audiences across multiple channels, plus developing and delivering innovative digital communication and projects across all campaigns.

Community Organiser

ACF’s new Community Organising Team is using proven community organising techniques to reshape the way that ACF builds power with our supporters. Our team is tasked with building the leadership capacity of our supporters and empowering them to organise their communities and networks to influence and effect long term, lasting change. We are a new and growing team inside ACF and there are opportunities for new skills and experience to really make a difference.

You will be one of two community organisers employed by ACF and work with the Community Organising Coordinator. Your job will be to work in strategically important communities to identify and support new leaders and to build relationships with and between our supporters on the ground. You will be responsible for identifying organising opportunities in the community, empowering our supporters to take advantage of them and linking them to the national campaign narratives of ACF. You will also be required to work closely with other environmental organisations and networks.

Healthy Ecosystems Campaigner

  • Senior campaigner leading national campaign for next generation of environmental law
  • Work with leading edge team of digital campaigners, communication strategists, field organisers and policy analysts
  • Permanent position with salary range of $75,000 - $85,000pa plus 10% superannuation, based on experience

The Australian Conservation Foundation (ACF) stands for ecological sustainability. We get to the heart of environmental problems by tackling the underlying social and economic causes and have been a strong and effective voice for the environment for 50 years.

The Healthy Ecosystems Program leads ACF’s campaigns to protect and restore Australia’s terrestrial, freshwater and marine ecosystems. We have been a leading contributor to major conservation outcomes in the Murray-Darling, Tasmania’s forests and national marine pars. Our current priorities are landscape-scale connectivity conservation and the overhaul of Australia’s system of environment laws.

You will be one of two senior campaigners and a policy coordinator who make up the Healthy Ecosystems Program. You will drive strategy and be the face of our national campaign for stronger environment laws in collaboration with the Places You Love Alliance. You will coordinate campaign activities delivered by ACF’s leading team of digital campaigners, communication strategists, field organisers and fundraisers. Your campaign will be supported by in-house economics, policy and legal advisers as well as external experts.
