 Organising Coordinator - The Climate Reality Project

  • Permanent position with a salary of $85,776 per annum plus 10% super and great working conditions.

The Australian Conservation Foundation (ACF) stands for ecological sustainability.  We get to the heart of environmental problems by tackling the underlying social and economic causes and has been a strong and effective voice for the environment for more than 50 years.

As part of ACF’s new Organising team we run the Australian arm of the Climate Reality Project, started by Al Gore in the US.  This program has over 600 trained and active Climate Leaders across Australia that are building capacity and influence in their community and industry to take action on climate change!

The Climate Reality Program is based on building the leadership and capacity of our Climate Leaders using a peer to peer organising model focused on target sectors and communities.

You will leverage the existing networks and influence of over 600 trained Climate Leaders to build power in strategic sectors, industries, and communities in Australian society.  You will be responsible for maintaining extensive relationships across business, politics, and the community and developing the leadership capacity of TCRP Climate Leaders.  You will be responsible for managing the TCRP Community Organiser and work with the Community Organising Manager.

The Climate Reality Project has been a part of ACF for years, this is an exciting and dynamic time for the role that will involve working on new strategies and aligning with a new community organising team.

Now they are expanding their focus to the systems that threaten nature and people, focussing on solving the underlying drivers of unsustainable practices rather than simply responding to the symptoms. ACF will continue to advocate to political and business leaders, and also work with communities - partnering with sectors that can make a real difference - and engaging strongly to create a healthy future for Australia.

The Role

Reporting to the Director of Fundraising you will play a key role in implementing a multi-year, multi-million dollar major gift campaign that will double ACF’s major donor income in the next three years. In this role you will be responsible for identifying, cultivating and soliciting donations and grants from individuals, philanthropic foundations, trusts, and the corporate sector. You will:

  • Manage a portfolio of existing donors, designing and implementing strategies which bring them closer to the work of ACF
  • Research and identify donor prospects, initiating relationships to better understanding their needs and potential for giving
  • Partner with donors, educating them around ACF’s work and the impact of their donations
  • Steward donors, managing the relationship and linkage to ACF for the long term
  • Maintain accurate records on Raiser’s Edge, providing timely donor reports

Skills Required

This role would be suited to an inspirational relationship fundraiser who has managed major gifts in a fundraising and preferably advocacy based environment. You will be:

  • Experienced, having worked in fundraising with a specific focus on major gifts
  • A strong communicator, able to listen, build rapport with stakeholders and influence
  • An exceptional writer, able to present compelling fundraising proposals with a commitment to quality
  • Organised, able to prioritise and use initiative
  • Confident and comfortable in your approach to relationships and ‘making the ask’
